Cosmos Dragon

Worklog: Here
If you thought glowing green acrylic had had its day when Lego’s Mtron series was discontinued then think again! The green stuff is back with a vengeance. The Coolermaster Cosmos is an exotic and racy looking case to start with but thechoozen’s Cosmos Dragon is a very impressive use of gloss black and luminous green acrylic indeed.
What’s even more impressive is the attention to detail and how it looks in the dark with the acrylic glowing menacingly under UV light.
The main reason we picked it for Mod of the Month is because it’s great to see such dramatic changes through its project log – there's some well thought through, confident planning and machining going on behind the scenes here we think.
With the lights out, only a flame thrower would be needed to make it look like something out of the film ‘Reign of Fire’. It’s also interesting how the design keeps within the confines and curves of the original shape – that is of the Coolermaster Cosmos and avoids any tacky ‘sticky out bits’. Again, a testament to decent planning and execution. Modding novices take note!
Large parts of the Cosmos Dragon include the green acrylic which has been well machined to fit intricately with the design. The front doors slide outwards to reveal several hidden 5.25in bays. It all puts those acrylic boxes we made at school into perspective doesn’t it? Well the ones we made anyway! The tidy, polished finishing is evident top to bottom too.
Here’s the externally mounted custom reservoir surrounded by the back spines of the Cosmos Dragon. This should look great once the cooling system is up and running and its position at the top of the case is pretty optimal too. The acrylic addition to the side panel glows ferociously and the gloss black panel and chassis smoked side panel provide the perfect backdrop.
There are plenty of aftermarket Laing DDC pump tops on the market but thechoozen decided to create his own in – you guessed it! Green acrylic! Fantastic job too and he also created his own CPU water block top again making use of the green acrylic which looks great on the motherboard. We can’t wait to see the finished article up and running.
