A380 Mod by Roboduck
Project log: Here
After a lengthy pre-project log and feedback phase in our
modding forum, Roboduck started his true project log at the start of 2010. Based around the not often used Xclio A380 case, A380 Mod features an additional monstrous 250mm intake fan that clearly resembles the enormous beasts of engines that haul the world’s largest airliner into the air.
One of the best bits about the project so far has been Roboduck's skill with rendering - some of the images we've seen so far of early concepts are truly stunning.
Needless to say, with two 250mm fans and a further six 120mm fans elsewhere in the case, cooling probably won't be an issue.
Here are those fantastic renders (we always like our renders here at bit-tech!). We're definitely liking the colour scheme too although Roboduck wasn't sure to start with, setting up a vote which so far has people agreeing with us that red intakes and white chassis is the way to go.
In the last month work has progressed steadily. First for some modding was the one-piece dual intake section. This was made by combining an intake from a second Xclio A380 and bonding the two together with a generous helping of filler followed by sanding to smooth everything off.
Here's the section fitted to the case for the first time showing off those big fans on the front panel. Once the section was sufficiently smoothed out it received a coat of white primer.
This was fitted to the case again and we get our first glimpse of how things will look. With white LED fans all round, the case will look pretty good with the lights off too. This is definitely one to watch!
