Mega Box by Marcos_Viegas
Project Log: Here
If there was ever a project that needed little introduction, simply because of its apt name, then this is probably it. Mega box is the result of forum user Marcos_Viegas' inspiration from not just one case, but two. Silver Stone's
Raven RV02 and Corsair's
Obsidian 800D are the cases in question, but despite their size, Mega Box looks set to eclipse them both.
The frame of the case, made from lengths of metal bar, quickly took form, and we got an early glimpse of Marcos_Viegas' plans from his early renders.
The renders show a huge case, which dwarfs the rendered motherboard inside it, but you can already see the design adopting certain aspects of the cases that inspired Marcos_Viegas, such as the large boxy look of the Obsidian 800D and the bottom-to-top cooling arrangement of the Raven RV02. It's not all about the frame and cooling system, though; there are hints that the details are going to be just as interesting. For example, Marcos_Viegas has made the case feet by combining several layers of acrylic.
The frame has since been clad in aluminium, and the panels were cut from an enormous sheet of the popular metal. The case had already gained various sections by this point, and you can see the motherboard tray located in the top right corner, just like the renders.
The roof panel and floor panel have been cut to make way for fans and radiators as part of the cooling system. The project is quickly becoming exciting, so make sure you head over to Marcos_Viegas's
project log to see his latest updates.
