TRON Lightcycle by Boddaker
Project Log: Here
Boddaker has been beavering away on a number of projects recently, and has some spectacular mods to his name such as
Battlestar Galactica and
Neptune's Trident. His current TRON-inspired project is being built as an entry for Cooler Master's
modding competition, and it looks as though he's off to a very good start.
The Lightcycle-themed project caused quite a stir in our forum, with TRON always proving to be a popular theme for projects. Even more surprising is the size of the project - seen here in SketchUp next to what appears to be a Cosmos S case. It's certainly not small. We also get a view of where the hardware will be installed inside the case.
Boddaker started by making a half-size mock-up of the project out of cardboard. However, various sections of the finished product will be cut out of acrylic, as you can see on the right.
The components were quickly assembled in a test-fit, which looks very promising indeed. The acrylic doesn't make up all of the bike, though, and Boddaker is already working on making the fenders.
The fenders were fashioned into shape using foam, which was then coated in Plasti-Paste II (a casting liquid). This provided a solid object to work with once the Plasti-Paste II had dried, and the shaping foam was removed. These parts need to be smoothed and cut to shape, but we can already see how they'll fit to the bike.
If his previous projects are anything to go by, Boddaker's project is set to become immensely cool over coming weeks, so make sure you head over to his project log at regular intervals. You can vote for three projects this month, and if TRON Lightcycle is one of your favourites, head over to our
forum to vote for it.
