Lightning McMod by kier
Project Log: Here
Who didn't like Pixar's Cars? It certainly seems to have made an impression on forum newcomer, kier, who has proceeded to dismantle a Lightning McQueen-branded combi television to provide the basis for his scratch-built PC. It's not just a guts-replacement job, though. Kier is making the shell a home for his PC hardware, and is even modding the wheels to include PC fans.
That TV won't be smiling for long. However, its boxy shape is perfect for a PC modding project and even comes with an inbuilt DVD player, which will surely be modded to fit a PC optical drive.
The internals of the case were quickly removed, leaving a bare shell. As we suspected, an optical drive has already been test-fitted in the case.
As luck would have it, the rear panel from a donor case fitted neatly into the rear of the Cars-themed case. We're absolutely loving what kier has done with the case's wheels too - they've been backed by Cooler Master red LED fans to provide cooling to the adjacently-mounted hardware.
Everything looks very neat inside so far, with a Cooler Master PSU and a hard disk caddy slotting inside perfectly. In a more recent update, we get a look at where the rest of the hardware will sit too. As far as we can see, the PC will be no slouch either, with a large V8 cooler dealing with the CPU and a GeForce GTX 285 1GB providing a respectable thump in the gaming department.
