Disruptive by elGafas
Project Log: Here
Flying the flag for Argentina this month is elGafas, who we last saw in Mod of the Month in October 2009 with his
Ioncito project. His latest project, called Disruptive, hit our forum at the end of May, and it's being built almost entirely on an improvised basis, which is amazing when you consider the project's sleek and industrial appearance.
Plenty of metalwork is needed for this unique-looking project, and these fairly hefty chunks of aluminium make this work particularly demanding.
The project has a repetitive, almost modular feel to it too, and the polished metal surfaces are already giving the project a lot of character. There are only a handful of projects each year that require this much off-the-cuff handwork - anyone who appreciates this style of work should definitely take a look at the project log.
Above we can finally see how all these hand-fashioned pieces of metal will come together. Amazingly, elGafas has managed to stick to his original plan of building a PC that would look at home in the living room, at a LAN party or sitting on a bench table.
We get a clearer view of the case itself here, and again we're impressed that such a simple design could lend itself to so many uses. We can't wait to see the finished article.
If Disruptive is your favourite project this month, head over to the
forum to vote for it.
