Electronic Arts head honcho, John Riccitiello has confirmed that Wil Wright's magnum opus,
Spore, will be available by the end of the year.
The EA CEO promised that the game would be available "
in time for the holidays" in a confrence call with UK journalists, including
Eurogamer.
"
We are not announcing dates for any of our titles...[But for Spore] we will tell you it's got to be before the holidays" John told callers.
"
This is one of the titles we pay enormous attention to for all the obvious reasons and we are very, very bullish."
As Eurogamer points out though, John chose his words very carefully and made no mention of which territories the release would take place in, nor which holiday he was referring to. Will we see
Spore on shelves before Easter? Christmas? Independence Day?
Spore is Wil '
The Sims Wright's most massive project ever, allowing gamers to control the evolution and growth of not just a small family, but an entire race. The game starts of at a purely cellular level and continues to zoom out, matching scale with the growing civilization players have created until the manufactured lifeform leaps onto planets new. The game will be available on the PC and, unofficially, the Wii too.
How excited are you about
Spore? Do you think such a game is even technically possible on any level? Let us know in
the forums.
