EA's new and upcoming squad-shooter set in the
Command and Conquer universe is going to be a fair old while in the making it seems.
Although the game was announced and first unveiled this year, the game has not been shown at E3 and
Kotaku has confirmed that EA isn't expecting the game to be released until 2009 or 2010 at the earliest - between April 2009 and March 2010 to be exact.
The game was originally slated to be on shelves this year, but EA has obviously decided that it would be best to push the game back by a year or two to give the development some more time.
The good news then is obviously that EA is ready to spend a lot more time on the game than before, which should hopefully result in a better game. The bad news is, well, we've got a bloody long wait until then.
Command and Conquer: Tiberium will be a departure from the standard
C&C gameplay, playing as a squad shooter rather than an RTS game. Still, if you're hankering after some old school RTS action then there's still
Red Alert 3 on the horizon for the Xbox 360 and PC later this year - check
our hands-on preview for more details.
Annoyed at the delay, or do you take it as a good sign that
EA is giving the game more time to mature? Do you have high hopes for
Tiberium, or are you sceptical to say the least? Let us know what you think in
