The Crysis Warhead branded PC has been designed by Crytek, EA and Nvidia.
EA has now released the full specs for the Crysis Warhead branded PC, which will apparently ship with Windows XP Professional edition.
EA has teamed with Nvidia and UltraPC to offer this single-spec machine which is guaranteed to run the upcoming
Crysis Warhead on high settings without ever dropping below 30 frames per second. The big caveats are though that EA has still not confirmed what resolution the machine will run at, though we do know that it'll be running
Crysis in DirectX 9 mode and without all the 64-bit enhancements.
The machine is still competitively priced however at $699.99, especially considering it comes with the OS included, and the offer of a one year parts and labour warranty is something we weren't expecting either.
The PC will come with an 9800GT 512MB, an Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 running at 2.66GHz and two gigabytes of DDR2 RAM. Keyboard, chassis and mouse are all included too - but expect a monitor to cost extra by the look of it.
The
Crysis Warhead machine will ship at the same time as the game, which is out later this month and which again plunges players into the alien / Korean / American tropical conflict, though this time the action is viewed from the perspective of American Delta Force soldier, Psycho.

Makes no sense at all...

XP probably works out cheaper. Or they just couldn't pull the performance necessary with all of the DX10/64-bit goodies enabled.
There is also the question, proxess, of not whether Crysis is worth, but what other development teams will do with their incredible engine. Here is to hoping that LucasArts licenses Crytek2 and make the definitive lightsaber/Star Wars combat sim.

wait till you get to the aircraft carrier EPIC FINAL BOSS
It has to be more Kyle Katarn, though - none of this 'prequel' or 'secret apprentice' nonsense. ;)
Crysis is an excellent game, it has a hate group for some reason, but don't listen to the idiots, comapred to other linear console generic FPS it is a very good game with great combat and interactivity. People tend to hate on it because they assume a game cannot have amazing graphics and gameplay.
I am not saying the game is bad! "Au contraire". I just think it is not THAT great. CoD 4 is much more involving.
This PC is not for the minority of people who can build their own.
agreed. looks like a decent spec base machine (bout the same power as mine effectively) and although i could have built mine for less than they're asking for, ~£400 is not bad at all for a full featured gaming PC, with a warranty and presumably recovery disks and all that kind of stuff. You dont get that if you're building a machine for your brother who knows nothing about it and calls you day in day out for minor tech support issues.
edit: sorry adrian if you are reading, but ffs learn something
a Radeon HD 4870 or 4850 will do way better with AA/AF!
the fact they put XP on it just shows that this PC cannot handle very high.
so what's the point calling this PC if it can't handle maximum setting?
amen!!!
but widescreen res even at similar or less pixels always performs worth. i really hope they optimise for widescreen, because there's a lot more people with widescreen nowadays
+1
the point of the pc is to try to get a "would be pc gamer" to purchase this thing and run crysis very well, NOT an enthusiast. hence the approachable price point (they need to have a good price point). i mean, this is way cheaper (and less heart attack inducing) than alienware's prices. if you really want to play the game on v. high then its just a matter of upgrading the gpu. i remember reading that crytek said v. high was more of a "future proofing" of the games' (crysis) visuals and that it was better off played at high settings since you really weren't missing out on much (except for gorgeous post processing on light rays).
btw i thought the flying bit was pretty awesome as well. i don't why some people bashed it so much. actually i loved every bit, even the ship level (except for the spaceship, i thought it was average in comparison to the rest).
They are a tad more expensive and unfortunately not made by Nvidia.
I am rather suspicious about the PSU "500w" of rubbish? I hope not but won't hold my breath
Really a beautiful game. I'm going to look into COD4 on the recommendation of the posters here.
As far as enthusiast vs consumer cards, it is all a crock. Nvidia and ATI/AMD could release their best cards for half the price, but that would hurt their so called product line. Crapitalism with a capital crap.
I am a gamer so I buy the hardware that I know will allow me to enter the Gamer Zone. A dimension of sight and sound, mystery and intrigue. Where you are the hero, Kyle Katarn, battling against ancient Republi...Sith evils. Next stop the Gamers Zone (cue trippy 60s acid induced music)

When you start up the game, it says 'Nvidia, the way it's meant to be played" or something like that. Going with an ATI card probably would have lost EA/Crytek quite a bit of future promotional agreements.
Was that as you have to go down the elevator at the bow?
I went down there then auto-fell through the floor and died, even reload of the level, reboot, etc wouldn't get me round it.
Any idea why it would do this?
I'm doing a rebuilt atm but i'm still curious how to avoid it in the future.

Such a low resolution makes kittens cry. 1600x1200 is the minimum, and most gamers have 1920x1200 now, for that widescreen loving.
XP is dead, let the worm go.

Tell that to EA and Crytek.
