Team17 is leaving Worms alone for a little bit in order to focus on remaking the Alien Breed game.
Team17 is stepping away from the
Worms franchise for a little bit and will be remaking the original
Alien Breed game and all we can say is
thank you! Don't get us wrong, we love
Worms, but the series has become a little bit repetitive and formulaic over the last few years.
Team17 gave the
announcement last night that it would be remaking
Alien Breed, which was a top-down sci-fi shooter made for the single greatest computer system ever, the Amiga.
Not much is know about the game, which has no relation to the
Aliens series, just yet and we aren't too sure on whether it'll be an all-out remake or an utterly fresh sequel.
Currently, the rumour is that Team17 is looking to maximise revenue on the game and that it will be a self-published, downloadable affair, so although platforms haven't yet been confirmed XBLA, PSN and PC all seem like viable choices, though WiiWare could also be on the cards.
Or, in other words, it could come to pretty much any platform and we just don't know for sure.
"
We're doing it with a budget far in excess of anything that has been spent anywhere on a digital title to date," Team17 reportedly
said in a recent statement.
Does
Alien Breed float your boat, or are you still bent out of shape over our claim that the Amiga is king? Let us know in
the forums.
Now if they'd only make a guine combat flight simulator remake of Thunder Force IV, I'd cream myself.
Hunter
Xenon 2: Megablaster
Hostages!
Captain Blood
That is all.
I know it's a matter of personal taste, but i prefer MSX - the Z-80 processor.
And I am not sure, but i think commodore 64 was the best selling computer in all time.
About thunder force i prefer the third one. Still the best music on games ever. I still have them on my compie
Edit: also Supercars 2 and Moonstone are due a rehash
All fps games "new features" like destructible environment, ride any vehicle, fly any vehicle, 3D, huge maps like in oblivion, interaction like in rpg games, pay the government if you demolish something etc etc etc. It was all availably in "hunter", and we talking 1991 here folks.
Captain blood, only positive things where the samples of the voices like "Hyperspace" and such voces (also used in various trance/hardstyle house records) and the J. M. Jarre "intro-music" afcourse! The rest of the game was well.. eh.. weird.
Xenon is freely availabe on the pc from the great BItmap Brothers: called xenon2000 project
Hostages had only 3 screens of action.. well actually i remember 2 action screens.
If there is one game that would qualify for a update, it would be "Another world" from Delphine software. And maybe a few others like Future Wars - Time traveler, Time Bandit, Dungeon Master, Gauntlet 2 and afcourse "Elite"

Although it's such a long time ago now and my memory isn't what it once was - I can't actually remember any Psygnosis titles off the top of my head. All I remember is that they were cool games, and they had that "Yes" style logo.
Lemmings, Barbarian, Shadow of the Beast, Wipeout and Destruction Derby are the ones that spring to mind .
A quick check of Wiki finds this
I had no idea they had been bought out by Sony in 2000.
Edit: I almost forgot the Discworld P'n'C games.
Also, where's Zeewolf 3? eh? Eh? eH? EH!?
Cannon Fodder
Turrican 2
All games that need to be re-made :D
This does make me a happy bunny though. I loved Alien Breed when I was a wee nipper.
Seconded.
If so, they have a truely awsome back catalogue.

No relation at all, as far as I'm aware.
