Zack Snyder, the director behind 300 and Watchmen, has announced a deal to develop games with EA.
In a move similar to the deal between Steven Spielberg and Electronic Arts, Zack Snyder has announced a three game deal with EA which will see the director of
300 and
Watchmen teaming up to work on three new videogame IPs.
Previously, EA had announced a similar arrangement with Steven Spielberg which has so far resulted in the release of the hugely enjoyable
Boom Blox, as well as two other unannounced titles.
According to Snyder's deal, he will lead the creative direction of the three games while working with the production team at EA Los Angeles. Snyder will also use his production company, Cruel & Unusual Films, to produce games based on the movies - which means we probably won't be seeing some more casual puzzle games coming out of the partnership.
The move marks the first attempt by Snyder to get involved in videogame development as, although he is currently working on the film adaptation of Alan Moore's
Watchmen he is not associated with the episodic series of action games that will tie in to the film. Instead, the
Watchmen games will be developed by Deadline Games and published next year by Warner Bros.
The deal is apparently so new and fresh though that Snyder and EA haven't yet even begun to plan out what type of games will be developed, though based on Snyder's track record we're betting it'll be something brutal, stylised and with plenty of political sub-texts and zombies. Yum!
Can game to movie adaptations ever possibly work, or are such ventures always doomed to fail? Let us know what you think in
the forums.
I only just got around to watching my DVD of 300 recently. Disappointed. Very disappointed. :(
whatever.
You got a point in there. But the main problem with the movie is that it is shallow and boring.. thats all. But again the comic book is shallow as well.
It's not even trying to be historically accurate, don't know what everyone is complaining about.
I like 300 just like I love Speed Racer.
maybe u should listen to both soundtracks again and then if u dare to make the same statement i'll personally chop ur head of:p:)
noseriously the 2 soundtracks are by no means related. 300 is a far cry from the gladiator score which at it's most intense scenes doesn't get anywhere near the grimm scala of sounds that is 300.
i liked both the movie and the soundtrack.it was somewhat historical but u wathc 300 for what it is not if u want a history lesson.
........has my button come loose?
I can see this turning into another button bashing brain numbing rsi enabling tedium.
I liked the film, I am pretty sure I an not going to like the game.
