After a long and much-delayed wait since the original leak, Electronic Arts has finally put
Wolfenstein RPG back in the iPhone App Store.
Priced at $4.99 / £2.99 for the moment,
Wolfenstein RPG is a overhauled port of the original J2ME game for mobile phones, boasting improved graphics, fully 3D levels and a bunch of little minigames spread out over the included nine levels.
The development of
Wolfenstein RPG has been a long and difficult task it seems, involving id Software, Firemint Software and Electronic Arts and many months of development. Finally though, it's arrived after being delayed to help distance it from id Software's
Wolfenstein Classic.
Anyone expecting the two games to be similar though will be sorely disappointed - while
Wolfenstein Classic is a fast-paced retro FPS,
Wolfenstein RPG is a turn-based action RPG that sees you exploring Castle Wolfenstein square by square. It's much like other id Software casual RPGs,
Doom RPG and
Orcs 'n' Elves.
The game includes nine levels and 32 different enemies to conquer, with an estimated 8+ hours of gameplay for most users according to EA. Initial impressions of the game seem to be pretty good too, though we haven't yet tried it ourselves.
