GamesCom 2010: As part of it's pre-GamesCom 2010 announcements, Microsoft has unveiled the official release date for the new Kinect controller for Xbox 360s.
Kinect will hit UK shelves on November 10th, 2010. Microsoft's original announcement originally contained an error saying that Kinect would be released on November 17th, but this has since been corrected.
Kinect is Microsoft's new motion-capture controller,
previously codenamed as Natal, which uses cameras to record and interpret player movements without requiring them to hold wands or Wiimotes.
The Kinect controller has previously been
priced at £129.99 in the UK - a price which many customers have baulked at, but which
MS has strongly defended.
Kinect will also be available bundled with the new Xbox 360 Slim 4GB model (officially just called the Xbox 360 4GB) for £249.99 when it launches, though it can be used by older models.
Launch titles for Kinect include
Kinect Adventures,
Kinect Sports,
Kinectimals and
Kinect Joy Ride.
We checked out both the new console and the Kinect controller previously - check our
Xbox 360 Slim review and our
Microsoft Kinect impressions for more information. If you can't be bothered to do that then suffice it to say that Kinect didn't exactly blow our socks off.
