Crytek has cast doubt on reports that it is working on a DirectX 11 patch for Crysis 2, saying that it never confirmed having such plans.

Rumours that Crysis 2 would get a DirectX 11 update began after Maximum PC re-reported a German website which claimed a graphics patch was impending.

According to the original report, the new patch would add DirectX 11 features and a new graphics menu for advanced tweaking to the PC version of Crysis 2.

However, Crytek's community manager 'Cry-Tom' has since commented on the official Crysis forum saying that he isn't sure where such claims stemmed from.

'No patch was ever confirmed, I have no idea why this website even posted such information,' said Cry-Tom.

'This thread is locked just the same as the others for trying to spread inaccurate information. When there are any big announcements regarding Crysis 2 they will be posted on MyCrysis, if you read something about a patch for example, but don't see it on MyCrysis.com, then it isn't genuine.'
