Cops and robbers themed first-person-shooter Battlefield Hardline is running an open beta next week between February 3 and February 8.

The beta will be open to players on PC, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and the Xbox One and will include three of the game’s modes, chase-based Hotwire, a new Heist mode and the more traditional Conquest mode.

Conquest mode specifically supports up to 64 players on a PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One and scales down to 24 players on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The beta will be testing three different maps.

During the open beta, EA will also be testing out the Hacker feature, which means one player on each team can break into security cameras and generally direct their teams to various strategic points.

Two additional modes, Blood Money, which acts as a capture the flag style mode, and Rescue, where police must rescue hostages from the criminals, are planned for the final game but are not being included in this round of beta testing.

A previous round of beta testing towards the end of 2014 resulted in Battlefield Hardline being delayed so that developer Visceral could act on the feedback it received. The game is currently scheduled for a March 20 launch.

As well as the much touted multiplayer mode which sits at the core of all of the Battlefield titles, Hardline will ship with a single-player campaign and Visceral has promised that this will not be a linear affair and that it will be greatly improved from its predecessors, many of which have garnered criticism of being lacklustre.
