Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath has made the transition to iOS and is now available on the Apple App Store.

The mobile version will require a minimum of an iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad Mini or fifth generation iPod Touch to run. It will feature native iOS gamepad support, cloud saving, achievements and leaderboards.

As well as the iOS version, an Android version is currently in development, but no specific release date has been announced. A Wii U version of the game was also announced in 2013.

Stranger’s Wrath became a cult classic and won over many fans with its original release. Focusing on the eponymous bounty hunter hero Stranger, it is a first-person spin-off from the Oddworld series that was originally launched in 2005 as an Xbox exclusive. It has since also seen an HD re-release for the PC and Playstation 3 developed by Just Add Water.

The Oddworld series was originally intended to be a quintology but only two titles from the original plan were ever released, Abe’s Oddysee and Munch’s Oddysee. Other games released under the Oddworld banner were considered by the developers to be ‘bonus games’ or outright spin-offs, like Stranger’s Wrath.

Series publisher Oddworld Inhabitants has experienced a bit of a comeback in recent years with the help of developer Just Add Water. As well as the re-releases of Stranger’s Wrath, they have also released Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, a remastered version of Abe’s Oddysee.

New ‘n’ Tasty adapts the original side-scrolling action-puzzle game into a 2.5D style and abandons the original’s single screen level transitions in favour of more traditional side scrolling.
