GAME, the UK's leading games retail chain, is to start moving into the music business this Christmas and has announced plans to start selling CDs from the Top 20.

According to MCV the chain has begun stocking just the Top 20 as extra stocking filler items for those already picking up games. The CDs are available to buy in more than 200 stores across the country, as well as online at the GAME website.

The move apparently comes as part of a deliberate move to fill a gap in the market left by the closure of Zavvi and Woolworths, both big music retailers that went into administration last year.

We know from our research that there is real overlap across entertainment products,” said a GAME spokesperson in an official announcement.

We’re committed to giving our customers everything they want for Christmas and to support this, we are launching a small album range within our stocking fillers area with the added bonus of earning Reward points.

Earlier this month GAME announced that it was suffering from a sales slump affecting the whole of the retail games market.

The UK Top 20 currently includes artists such as Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Jason Derulo and Peter Kay's Animated All Star Band. We guess nobody listens to Meatloaf anymore, eh?
