AMD and Codemasters have confirmed that three million Dirt 3 codes intended to be shipped with Radeon graphics cards as part of a sales promotion have been stolen.

Rather than the vouchers themselves being stolen however, a database containing the activation codes was stolen from AMD4U.com.

'These activation keys were hosted on a third party fulfillment agency website, www.AMD4u.com, and did not reside on AMD’s website,' said an AMD spokesperson, according to RPS.

'Neither the AMD nor Codemasters servers were involved.'

Codemasters, AMD and Steam are all working together to address the situation, but warn that those with valid vouchers might be in for a 'short delay'.
