Over the past few months, ATI have had a relatively hard time with things for one reason or another. Yesterday, we found out that Intel has released a
new motherboard - the D101GGC mATX desktop board, which features ATI's Radeon Xpress 200M chipset with integrated DirectX 9.0 graphics.
Aside from the Radeon Xpress 200M chipset, there's four SATA ports, High-Definition Azalia audio, up to 2GB of DDR memory, four external USB 2.0 ports and four more via headers on the board. There is also integrated 10/100 LAN and a PCI-Express x16 video card slot.
The specification may not be all that impressive, but this board is aimed at customers in the value segment who require high quality integrated DirectX 9.0 graphics. This will prove to be a big design win for ATI due to the volume that this product is likely to ship in. In fact, we're expecting to see ATI's chipset market share sky rocket as a result of this, and we don't expect it to stop there either.
