SilentiumPC has announced a follow-up to its Fortis 2 XE1226 cooler, in the form of the high-TDP twin-tower Grandis XE1236 heatsink.
Designed for high-end systems with high thermal design profile (TDP) chips, the Grandis features the company's XE Technology - a solid-copper heat spreader designed to transmit energy from the CPU to the cooler's six 6mm U-shaped heat pipes more efficiently than traditional designs. These pipes then go to a pair of cooling fin stacks arranged in a twin-tower design, which are then cooled using the bundled GF12025 120mm PWM-controlled fans - peaking, the company claims, at an impressively quiet 21dBA.
The company is pushing the new cooler as a universal design, boasting support for all modern Intel and AMD sockets while boasting that the cooler will fit in almost any ATX case providing at least a 185mm width. SilentiumPC is also bundling an additional set of fan clips, allowing for a triple-fan configuration for those who need it. Doing so will, naturally, increase the weight from an already-impressive 1.16kg with the bundled 120mm fans - a weight supported by a bundled mounting backplate. Overall, the heatsink measures 130mm x 105mm by 158mm tall.
UK pricing for the cooler has yet to be confirmed, but the retail pack with included Pactum PT-1 thermal compound has been given a pan-European recommended retail price of €39 - around £32 excluding taxes. More details are available on the
official website.
