Cooler Master has announced the judging panel for its 2017 Case Mod World Series contest, and bit-tech's own Dave Alcock leads a panel of eight experts from publications and sites spanning the globe.

Designed to showcase Cooler Master's love and support for the modding community, the company's Case Mod World Series 2017 includes a total prize fund of $40,000 (around £33,000) - but the company claims there are bigger reasons to get involved than the potential to win shiny hardware and chunky cheques, including promotion for modding activities and regional events which help bring local modders together for support and friendly competition.

'We're seeing more and more so that case modding is getting attention from a wider audience and want to ensure our platform is representative of this' claimed Cooler Master's Raymen Wu in explanation of the company's initiative. 'We're committed to growing the modding community and hope to see more newcomers inspired to join this year.'

Naturally, if you're judging mods it's good to know what you're talking about. The judging panel for the 2017 competition has been confirmed as eight-strong, beginning with bit-tech's own Dave Alcock and including frequent contributor Anthony Leather, Dewayne Carel of Modders Inc., Mhike Samsin of TantricmodZ, Logan Hale of Crit TV, Tomi Adebayo of Unilad Tech, and Cameron Wilmot & Anthony Garreffa from TweakTown.

The panel has been instructed to judge entries based on the following criteria: creativity and originality; attention to detail; quality of aesthetic presentation; and 'overall uniqueness in comparison to entries presented this year,' which is apparently different from 'originality.'

Details of the competition can be found on the official microsite, while registration is open through to the end of the month.
