Kingston has announced a new entry in its HyperX product range, aimed at gamers who are looking for visually striking and high-performance memory: the HyperX Predator.

Available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB kits of two or four modules, the HyperX Predator range builds on its predecessor with a new heatspreader design extending well above the top of the module and providing, Kingston claims, vastly improved heat dissipation - a boon to overclockers. That said, without firm performance figures it's difficult to say how much difference the new design makes.

While Kingston hasn't been forthcoming with temperature figures, it has released specifications for the new modules. The range will include 1,600MHz, 1,866MHz, 2,133MHz and 2,666MHz models in CAS latency 9 and 11 flavours, with voltages between 1.5v and 1.65v - specifically chosen, Kingston claims, to give room for overvolting. Special XMP-certified models will also be available, supporting automatic overclocking under Intel's Extreme Memory Profile system.

'The PC gaming market is robust and growing and we are pleased to contribute to that market with our new, more aggressive HyperX Predator memory kits,' claimed Mark Tekunoff, senior technology manager at Kingston, of his company's latest memory product. 'Enthusiasts will experience higher performance, ultra-responsive multitasking possibilities and an overall faster system thanks to its top optimised performance settings for specific modules ― handpicked and tested by our Kingston engineers.'

Kingston claims the modules are designed to be completely compatible with Intel P55, H67, P67, Z68, H61, and Z77 chipsets along with AMD's A75, A87, A88, A89, A78, and E35 chipsets. All models include the company's usual lifetime warranty.

UK pricing and availability for the new modules have yet to be confirmed, with Kingston confirming US pricing ranging from $56 for the entry-level 1,600MHz CL9 8GB (2x4GB) kit and rising to $338 for a 32GB (4x8GB) kit in the same speed (around £36 and £215 respectively, excluding taxes.) The fastest kit, an 8GB (2x4GB) 2,666MHz CL11 kit, has not yet been given a price.
