Full compatibility of Sennheiser wireless DW series and wired SH and CC series headsets with Polycom’s SoundPoint and Business Media Phones

Copenhagen, Denmark, 13th January 2011 – Sennheiser Communications, a leading supplier of premium headset solutions, today announced it has successfully joined Polycom’s ARENA partner program. Polycom, a global leader in telepresence, video and voice communication solutions, initiated the ARENA program to allow software application providers, hardware device manufacturers and conferencing solution providers to integrate their products with Polycom’s industry leading unified communication platform to create new applications.

A key solution to the full compatibility and interoperability of Sennheiser headsets and Polycom phones is the electronic hook switch (EHS). This solution enables remote operations of Sennheiser wireless DW series headsets with various Polycom SoundPoint and Business Media Phones.

With this fully tested and compatible solution for Sennheiser DW series headsets, users can hear ring tones as well as answer / end calls while being away from their desk. Furthermore, the user is able to handle other remote key functions such as adjusting the volume and muting the headset. This freedom of movement and gained flexibility enhances productivity and user experience.

As Lars Riis Rasmussen, Strategic Alliance Manager for Sennheiser Communications, says: “The Unified Communications segment is growing at an amazing pace. All the more reason why we are excited to be a silver member of the Polycom ARENA program. Our mutual customers will not only enjoy an all-round fully tested and compatible innovative communications solution, they’ll also benefit from Sennheiser Communications’ leadership in sound quality, ease of use and comfort in combination with Polycom’s industry leading HD voice UC devices”

“Thanks to our cooperation with Sennheiser Communications, Polycom can provide end users with a complete, tried-and-tested communications solution,” explained Tim O’Neil, Polycom ARENA program. “This means we are leading the way toward Unified Communications – giving our mutual customers an all-round, seamless user experience with a focus on efficiency and high performance.”
