Foreword by Wil Harris

Magnus Persson, aka Wolverine, is one of Sweden's top modders. Along with GoTaLL, the pair have the Swedish scene sewn up. Wolverine is an avid engraver, and we've seen his work before on the site. It's been a while since we've seen anything big from Magnus, so when he let me know what he was up to I was very keen to get his project up on the site! The original Swedish version of this article is over at sweclockers.com, but for all us English-speaking modding fanatics, here's the details of the project in full. Enjoy Magnus' write up of Biomech 550!

Biomech 550, by Wolverine

Finally, it's time to do another big casemod! I've been busy doing engravings for a very long time now and although I love to do engravings, it's the big casemod projects that really get me going.

This project has absolutely no engravings whatsoever. The whole idea is inspired by H.R Giger's Biomech art. I'm sure that you have seen Giger's work, since he created the Alien monsters for the popular film series.

As usual, I just get an idea and jump straight in. I never stop to think about if I can actually pull it off! My first problem with this case was that I had too many wild ideas. Before I did anything I had to calm down and start to sort out the ideas that would actually make it into the project. So on the following pages you will see the result of what I've spent almost three months building.

Let's get straight to the action!

Getting started

The first thing I needed was a big sturdy case to act as a foundation for the Biomechanical monster. My choice was easy - I picked the Antec Titan 550 server case. This case is built like a tank and has enough room to fit watercooling and a couple of very sexy Western Digital Raptor-X drives.
