UNMPC

We've already seen one Stacker mod today, but how about a second - or, rather, a second and a third? The UNMPC is an attempt to build a massive, chunky system out of not one, but two Coolermaster Stacker cases. Sounds mental? You'd be right.

The first step in the project is to dismantle the two Stacker cases. This involves some fairly intensive rivet removal to pull the pieces apart. Then, there's some painting to do along with the addition of some more aluminium bars to give the pair of chasses decent structural support and stability.

This chunky window in the top sits over the middle of the case, between the two Stacker towers.

Here you can see the motherboard tray sections of the Stackers that have been cut out, riveted and filed and then transported back into the monolith. You can also see the PSU cages that will house the power for the system. The PSUs are actually going to be mounted higher up in the case, after a change of plans. Lazarus quite rightly observes that "It doesn't matter how long you spend planning, sometimes you just don't know how things are going to work until you do them."

We wanted to leave you with this image of how the behemoth is coming along. Yes, that's right - a 15" LCD in the centre of the case. Pretty nice, huh? The rest of the front will be covered in acrylic and mesh, to match the bezels of the Stackers.

The case is coming along nicely, and now includes a UPS backup system, too. Definitely check it out and stay tuned for more progress.
