Project Logs - You choose the winner! The contenders - Page 1
To celebrate the re-vamp of our forums (which is detailed here), we announced a new competition in conjunction with ECS. The winner of the best Project Log in our new, streamlined Project Logs forum got to win a funky KN1 Athlon 64 motherboard.

Well, we've narrowed down the shortlist to 6 PCs for this month, and we're asking you guys to go vote for which you think is the most worthy of the motherboard. Once you've had a read through the brief summaries on these pages, go ahead and check out the Project Logs for the full details. Then, head over to this thread and cast a vote.

If this month's competition goes well, we'll be expanding it for next month, with bigger prizes and more of them. So get voting!

Contender 1 - miniG5ized

Project Log // Project Log Discussion

This mod caught our eye simply for being so... radical. Many would claim that the Apple G5 case is the epitomy of case perfection - amazing good looks coupled with some very practical design. However, it just didn't appear to sit correctly with FanatiK, who is cutting its ego - and its height - down to size.

The mod is only part completed, but has had some good execution so far. Slicing and re-aligning a case in the way that FanatiK is attempting is not an easy job, but he seems to be making a damn good effort at doing it. This could turn out to be one really spectacular small case.

Contender 2 - Rev.Zero

When I first saw the case Johan was working with, I thought... there's no way that what he's doing is actually going to work well.

However, Johan has sanded and bondo'd his way through a pretty tricky backplate, and has come out with something that actually looks really good. Again, this is a project that is in its early days, but it has a lot of potential to get funky very quickly.

Considering this is Johan's first mod, I was really impressed with the execution on this one.

Contender 3 - Feeding Frenzy

By Top Nurse
Project Log // Project Log Discussion

The Lian Li 601 is one of my favourite cases of all time, simply because it has an amazing amount of modding potential. It's not only huge enough to house virtually anything you could require, it's also very stylish.

Inside the case is a three-loop watercooled system using Aqua Computer parts. Three loops isn't an easy system to manage, and Top Nurse will do incredibly well if he actually manages to pull it off. So far, the integration of the watercooling system seems to be going pretty well, so I'm hopeful it could end up looking good!

The latest part of the project to be completed is the PSU wiring, which has been re-done to make more efficient use of cables and molexes. It's not a new idea, but it is well executed.
