The thermal probes also get three plugs to the side and can be put wherever you want to monitor some temperatures. The cables are long enough to reach the ends of even a large case, but as they are all (again) the same length you find yourself with at least one being too long - depending on whether you want to use it on the motherboard, CPU, hard drives, case temp, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I really like the idea of the thermal probes and used in conjunction with an Asus Republic of Gamers motherboard could mean for the obsessively compulsive among you, you have six of these stuffed in every nook and cranny, telling you every temperature you'd possibly want to know.
In reality though, the probes could do with being left in the car during summer to help "relax" their starchy nature, which is a bit of a pain right now unless you live in the southern hemisphere... or at least anywhere but Blighty (It was 17 degrees this weekend - what are you talking about?! - Ed.)
The single cable for fans allows up to two, three pin fans to be connected but it feels a bit redundant since virtually every motherboard will come with enough fan headers these days. This is especially the case if you're needing an 800W PSU for your system, as you're not going to be running a mini-ITX board. Additionally, only one of the two connectors has speed sensing.
The 120mm fan is blue LED backlit, but is controllable in the supplied software giving you the option to turn the LEDs off or on. Thankfully the fan is very slow running and the LEDs are tied to the voltage so provide a very subtle underglow rather than a blinding rave that makes you reach for some lightsticks.
The many cable features are over and above that of virtually every other PSU we've seen to date, however just take a look at how messy all of this can be! You have to have some serious cable management skills to organise that lot, but bear in mind this is the beauty of it all being modular - everything you don't need gets thrown in the pouch.
