A new internet venture aims to take a pop at Skype - by providing VoIP without a computer headset.

JaJah.com enables you to type in your phone number and then type in the number of the person you want to call. The JaJah services calls your phone then connects you, meaning you never have to dial out.

You can call anywhere in the world for a fraction of the cost of standard telco rates - and some of the rates are even cheaper than Skype, although not by much. Calling a landline in the US from SkypeOut account costs 0.02 Euros per minute, as opposed to 0.0175 Euros a minute to call a US landline from a UK landline on this service. (w00t! etc.)

The handy thing is the ability to call cheaply from any computer, without having to resort to a headset - wherever you are, you can just have the service call your mobile to connect you.

There's a free 5-minute trial on offer, so you can go and check it out for nothing. Let us know what you make of the service over in the forums.
