Mac owners should start to see the second update to Tiger since it's launch back in May hit their machines today, As Cupertino begins to roll it out via the usual Software Update functionality of OSX:

Apple has released Mac OS X 10.4.2, the latest version of its 'Tiger' operating system.

The update - made available as a standalone installer alongside the version accessed through the System Preferences pane, Software Update - addresses dozens of issues with the core operating system and the applications Apple bundles with it.

An extensive list of the fixes and enhancements included in the 10.4.2 update can be found at Apple's web site

More from the Register here.

There's numerous tweaks included in the update, but the most obvious change to the OS since last month is the new Widget manager, which (allegedly - I've yet to get the update, so can't comment yet) allows users to sort out their burgeoning collection of desktop toy... sorry, "productivity tools" more efficiently.

Discuss the new update in the news forums here.
