Some retailers are beginning to discount the price of the Xbox 360 Core systems - although Microsoft claims that it has said nothing to do with it.
Retailers, including
Play, are now selling the Core 360 system for £199, rather than the £209 it appears for in most shops (and has done since launch).
The chaps at
Eurogamer spoke to a Microsoft spokesperson, who said that:
"Retail price is set by our retail partners... Retailers are already selling Xbox 360 Core System from £199.99, which we believe is outstanding value to consumers."
So it seems that MS isn't officially endorsing the price cut, but is happy that it's going down.
The Core system lacks the hard drive of the Premium system, and has a wired (rather than wireless) controller. The Premium box costs £279.
Now it's under £200, do you fancy the 360?
