Quakecon, one of the biggest events of the gaming calendar, has finally been confirmed to go ahead - after rumours surrounding the event were suggesting it would be called off.

What will excite gamers even more is that the event will offer people the first chance to get their hands on the highly anticipated Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

Quakecon, which takes place from August 3rd - 6th in the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, will be more limited than usual this year with only 1,800 BYOC spots compared to last years 3,200.

With a reduced capacity for this year's event, as well as a first come first serve basis, expect there to be a large rush for the spaces with many left disappointed. The online registration will begin at 9pm EDT on Wednesday, June 28th over at Quakecon.org.

After an exciting showing at E3, the new Enemy Territory will almost certainly steal the show but you can still expect the high stakes tournaments, the variety of exhibitions and of course the partying. It promises to be a great event and we'll keep you up to date on how it goes.

If your going (or want to go but can't get a ticket!) let us know why you're excited about this years Quakecon over in the forums.
