Bungie has announced that Halo 3 will go for a public beta for next spring, fuelling the dreams of Master Chief fanboys across the world.
In a
update post to their website, the guys at Bungie also revealed that a new advert for the game would air in the break of December 4's Monday Night Football - for what purpose we're not entirely sure, except perhaps to remind the world that, in the grip of Playstation 3 fever, the big X is still out there with a lot of potential.
There will also be a number of new Halo 2 deathmatch maps - the game is still the most played multiplayer title on Xbox Live, and Bungie is looking to keep fans happy in the run up to the release of the last part of the trilogy.
The Halo 3 multiplayer public beta doesn't have a date yet, but Bungie says that:
We can confirm that our fans will have an opportunity to play Halo 3 multiplayer over Xbox Live BEFORE the final game is available. You’ll be playing a little multiplayer and simultaneously providing us with some valuable data to help our development team. We’re still working out the details on timing and scope and there will be a lot more info coming in the weeks ahead. We can confirm that you will absolutely be required to have an Xbox 360. Probably not a huge surprise.
