A Microsoft spokesman has put paid to rumours that the Xbox 360 will be getting a price cut ahead of the launch of the Sony PS3 in November.
We'd suggest that Microsoft was planning a price cut, but decided not to bother when Sony announced that the PS3 would be $200 more expensive anyway.
Quoted over at
Clubskill, Microsoft said that:
"We have no plans to make any price adjustment. The last couple of days have reinforced the fact that we have a great value proposition, giving consumers choice, thanks to the core system. We’re not forcing the consumer down a route with HD playback. We certainly don’t think it’s necessary to make any changes to the current price point."
We'd say that the line about 'the last couple of days' is evidence for Microsoft's apparent glee at the PS3 price. Head honcho Peter Moore
was also recently quoted as being very surprised at Sony's pricing.
So it looks like now is as good a time as any to buy an Xbox 360. Will you be picking one up with Gears of War out before Christmas?
