Sony has revealed some more details about the launch of its PS3 console.
First off is the list of launch titles that will hit alongside the console's release. These include:
- Resistance: Fall of Man (awesome looking next-gen FPS)
- Call of Duty 3
- Rainbow 6: Vegas
- Ridge Racer 7
- Tony Hawk's Project 8
As well as various cross-platform titles such as Need For Speed Carbon, Tiger Woods, FEAR and Elder Scrolls IV. Conspicuous by its absence is Gran Turismo of any variety.
Sony also said that the Blu-ray version of Talladega Nights, with Will Ferrell, will ship with the first 400,000 units - basically the whole allocation.
There is also confirmed pricing on the peripherals - $50 for a wireless controller and an outrageous $50 for an HDMI cable to connect in content-protected HD.
The battery in the controller will not be replaceable, a la iPod and not a la Xbox. This could mean that, three years into the console's lifetime, new controllers could be in order. Maybe Sony can take advantage of the built-in lifecycle to release a controller with rumble!
Sony boss Phil Harrison also said that he planned to have every PS1 and PS2 game available for download through the Sony online store, quite an ambitious plan!
