For those of you excited about the upcoming Burning Crusade expansion pack for World of Warcraft, I unfortunately come bearing bad news. The release date has been delayed until January 2007.
Originally Blizzard hoped to get the game out in time for Christmas this year. The new release date has been pencilled in to allow for an extended closed beta test. Despite there being no reported problems with the games development, it is understood that this delay will help fine-tune the game. Mike Morhaime, president of Blizzard Entertainment made this statement:
“We appreciate the enthusiasm surrounding World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, and we’re excited about putting the finishing touches on all of the new content. We feel confident that the extra time spent polishing the game will result in the high-quality experience that our players expect and deserve.”
It looks like everyone will have to wait until 2007 to get their characters up to level 70. In the mean time check out
our preview of The Burning Crusade and then give us your views on the delay over in the
forums.
