Out at GDC, Dice has just released the first half of the Battlefield 3 video with which it's been teasing us for the past few weeks, showing a step-up in terms of visuals.
The video follows a section from the single-player component of the game, with player character Sgt. Blackburn and his marines tearing through back streets around the Iraqi/Iranian border. While it's only a brief look at the game, the video shows off the new Frostbite 2 engine's fancy features, in particular the improved character movement and animations, which look fantastic.
Sadly, it doesn't all look like good news, though. We don't think we can stomach yet another FPS in which we have to wait for our squad mates to open all the doors for us, for example.
Named Fault Line: Episode One, it's clear that Dice and EA are planning to tease us with a drip-feed of Battlefield 3 morsels for some time, with more videos in the series released in the future.
Check out the video below, or if you're feeling hungry for gaming self-flagellation, dial it up to 1080p, maximise if to full-screen and then feel sad because it won't be out until the autumn.
