Just yesterday we released the rather excellent news that Michel Ancel has confirmed that a sequel to 2003s cult hit
Beyond Good & Evil was in pre-production, though the game was still not officially confirmed by Ubisoft.
Now, thanks to the translation services of
RockPaperShotgun, there are a few more detail to be harvested from
the original article in JeuxVideo.
Speaking to the French gaming magazine, Ancel confirms once more that although
Beyond Good & Evil hasn't been given the official go-ahead from the Ubisoft higher-ups, it is in the early stages of preproduction. Ancel also confirms that the 12 staffers working on the game include Yoshitaka Amano (
Final Fantasy) and French comic book artist Enki Bilal, who should help carry over the unusual art style of the original game.
Disappointingly though, Ancel admits that if the game does get the go-ahead then it will be published on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 only - there's no indication of a PC release being planned, which is a real shame.
"
We want to be in the continuity of the first: a large variety of play types, lots of emotions in the gameplay and from the supporting characters," said Ancel. "
This time we are dealing with the future of the planet, the rapport with the animals…”
Ubisoft has yet to comment on why the game hasn't been officially green-lighted, but the slow sales of
the original game are probably the main reason. Let us know what you think about the possible sequel in
the forums.
