According to an update made on the Battlefield 2 home page, EA and DICE are gearing up to release a new patch for the popular online multiplayer game.

The poster stated that the patch is imminent, stating, "Barring any last-minute issues, the 1.03 update is only a few days from release now."

Along with the bug fixes, the developers have included the first official bonus map, which is termed a modern-era update of one of the most popular maps from the original Battlefield 1942 - Wake Island. We've included a couple of screen shots at the bottom of this story for your consumption.

There are also some addiitonal features and tweaks to the game play included in the update. You're now awarded points for destroying command objects -- good news for Special Forces players. Supply drop icons now appear on the main map and also on the 3D map, enabling players to find supply drops much faster. Finally, there is the inclusion of the ability for server admins to reserve server slots so that they can connect to a full server without having to kick players off it.

You can find the full list of tweaks and features on the BF2 home page in this community update.
