The first reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 footage is here. The footage is 27 minutes in, or you can click the link to go straight to the action.
It's an hour of discussion about the competitive aspects of the game and as someone who used to play the original Modern Warfare competitively it's exciting to see. Advanced Warfare was one of the best received Call of Duty games in years, so there's a lot of pressure riding on Black Ops 3 to maintain that.
They look to be taking a few aspects from MOBA games like drafting and picks & bans to create a strategy stage before anyone has fired a shot and it looks like the Call of Duty meta has really moved along quite a way since I had the reactions to compete.
There's a lot to like about Call of Duty now: 5 hour campaigns mean there's a chance I'll actually finish it and there's something almost charming about learning a new set of weapons in the multiplayer while a 14 year old screams at me in voice chat.
I'd recommend heading to the hour point at the video (
but I've done the work for you here) to watch the Search and Destroy match which is pretty much the pinnacle of competitiveness.
Those of you on the fence about picking it up for the PC should be buoyed by these extra features:
100% Ranked Dedicated Servers
2-Player Split Screen - This includes support for split screen across multiple monitors which is great.
Seamless Game Controller Support
Strong GPU scaling, SLI and Crossfire Optimizations, and 4K monitor support
FOV Slider
Framerate Cap Slider
Improved Text Chat features available in-game and also now in lobbies
Steam Trading Cards
Treyarch Anti-Cheat (TAC)
Black Ops 3 will release in November. We should have more information on the game soon.
