Carmageddon: Reincarnation is launching on Steam Early Access in the first quarter 2014.
The game will be available at different tiers of prices with the lowest amount giving access to the standard game package and higher amounts including DLC and yet-to-be-released content.
The Early Access version of the title will be released with several levels, cars and game modes with additional content being added over time.
'The existing Carmageddon community and a whole new generation of fans is out there waiting for this and with Early Access on Steam, they'll be able to play, engage with us and give feedback as we continue towards the full release,' said Stainless Games publishing director Jason Garber.
The full release in 2014 is also aiming for Mac, Linux and next generation consoles.
Carmageddon: Reincarnation was funded through Kickstarter in June last year and raised $625,143, surpassing its $400,000 goal. Additional funds were also raised by Bullfrog Studios co-founder Les Edgar.
The original Carmageddon was released in 1997 and sparked controversy in several territories with the ability for players to run down hoards of pedestrians. In some markets, these were then swapped for zombies and green blood.
Carmageddon was followed by two sequels, Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now and Carmageddon TDR 2000. An iOS port of Carmageddon was released in October 2012 and also made its way to Android devices in May this year.
