I've always wanted to be in a computer game and I'm sure you have too. For most of us though, who never had a chance to respond to the "Your Face In A Game!" advert which Valve ran in order to get actors to model for characters in
Half-Life 2, that dream is one which will never come true.
Anyway, in order to give gamers at least half a chance to get their mugshot in a game which looks half-decent, the guys at
Penny Arcade are going to auction off a role in the upcoming Xbox 360 RPG,
Fable 2.
Fable 2 is currently in development at Peter Molyneux's Lionshead Studios and is the sequel to the original Xbox game,
Fable. Obviously.
There are several roles on offer in the game, including 'shopkeeper', 'farmer', 'important villager', 'monk' and 'quest giver', with each having a different starting bid.
The roles are being auctioned off in order to raise money for the
Child's Play charity which is run by the team behind the Penny Arcade webcomic. The charity focuses on supplying hospitals internationally with toys and games for the children's wards. The effort, which is run and supported almost exclusively by gamers, has raised over $2 Million for the 45 partner hospitals since 2003.
The roles will be auctioned off at the official charity dinner in Seattle this December, tickets for which will be available soon. Just keep an eye on the
events page for details.
It's also possible to donate beforehand on
the official website. If you prefer you can even elect to buy a specific toy or game chosen by a specific hospital by using the wishlists made by the hospital staff, just select which hospital you favour.
Have you ever been in a game? Will you be donating this year or are you a grumpy old misery guts? Let us know
in the forums.
