Chris Taylor, boss of Gas Powered Games and the man behind both
Total Annihilation and
Supreme Commander, has given some of the first details on
Dungeon Siege 3 - the first game in the series to come out since that awful Uwe Boll film.
Speaking to
Eurogamer in Germany, Taylor said that the new game would have the focus shifted away from group combat and party balancing to just single-character action. Taylor said that this set up would be similar to his new project,
Space Siege.
"
There will be some things that are very much like Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, but some things will be simplified. I am done with multi-character parties; I really think that it's all going to be about a single hero. It's too much to manage," Taylor said in the interview.
Taylor himself though may not be heavily involved in the project as he is currently working with SEGA on a new single-player PC-based RPG called
Space Siege.
The good news of course is that Gas Powered Game itself remains a PC exclusive developer and has given no signs of breaking that habit just yet. Although there has been an Xbox 360 version of
Supreme Commander, it was handled by a third party developer.
Both
Space Siege and the new
Dungeon Siege game are expected to focus more on story than Gas Powered Games' previous RPG outings - but is that a good thing? Let us know what you think in
the forums.
