Rumours are persisting that Diablo 3, the hugely anticipated follow-up to the definitive slash-em-up RPG, will be an online only game.
The rumour is that it will be a MMO in the style of World of Warcraft. The basic premise for the adventure world will be that Hell is invading Heaven, and you will get to play on either one side or the other.
Despite the non-appearance of the game at BlizzCon this weekend, there is still plenty to speculate on. Allegedly, Diablo 3 will feature Guild Housing, that sorely-missed feature of WoW, and will be on a scale even greater thatn Blizzard's current MMO poster child.
The rumours originate
here. Whilst we don't know for sure whether or not Diablo 3 will be MMO, we do know that it is in development. Blizzard recently advertised a job opening for a team leader to lead the team that designed Diablo and Diablo 2 on a new project. Does take a lot of intelligence
to work it out, huh?
Frankly, I think Diablo 3 online would be freakin' awesome. There would clearly be a more PvP vibe than WoW, and the potential of the world to render dungeons and awesome skeletal combat would be incredible. Some will balk at paying another £8.99 a month, but honestly, it's Diablo! It would surely be The Next Big Thing™.
Will Diablo 3 be a MMO? Would you play it? Or is this just fruitless rumour-mongering? Let us know your opinion over in the
