Bioware's Dragon Age 3: Inquisition has been delayed, pushing the release date back to 2014.
Initially scheduled for an autumn 2013 release, the game has been held back a full year. The delay is attributed to the developer intending to take more time to 'craft a deep, captivating experience' according to Bioware general manager Aaryn Flynn.
Additionally, being knocked back a year does not mean Dragon Age 3 is being reworked for next generation consoles with Bioware community coordinator Chris Priestly confirming over Twitter that it was still heading for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The title will also launch on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Dragon Age 3: Inquisition will run on the Frostbite 3 engine and Bioware showed off a new trailer for the game at E3 which excited fans and earned a cheer during its screening at the exhibition by featuring Morrigan from the first game in the series.
Dragon Age: Origins launched in 2009 with its sequel, Dragon Age II launching two years later in 2011. Dragon Age II earned a mixed critical reception and EA Labels president Frank Gibeau acknowledged that many fans of the series were disappointed by the sequel, promising to take their views into consideration for the third game.
The third title in the series was confirmed in September last year with executive producer Mark Darrah confirming that they had taken into consideration the feedback from the previous two titles as promised by Gibeau and that they were currently courting further comments about the series.
