Electronic Arts announced on Thursday that it's bringing the Command & Conquer series back with a third RTS game, with the working title
Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars.
Many of you will remember the C&C games as staples of the RTS genre, pitting the GDI (Global Defense Initiative) against the radical Brotherhood of NOD. The franchise even did a not-so-successful dip into FPS territory, with a rather fun but not critically welcomed
Command and Conquer: Renegade.
With C&C:TW, the series is going back to its roots as a hardcore RTS, but with a new method of storytelling that is supposed to make the game more immersive.
"We're building a next generation Command & Conquer game that is true to the spirit of this classic franchise, but is updated with state-of-the-art visuals, added strategic depth, and gameplay innovations that will move the genre forward," said Mike Verdu, Exec Producer of EA Los Angeles.
The game is projected for release in early 2007.
Personally, I remember many late-night LAN parties with the first C&C, some 'Surge!' soda, chips, and an occasional aggravated parent telling us to keep it down at 3am. Ah, the memories. But rather than just get lost in my own nostalgia, I'll let you guys do some talking
here in our forums. Report for duty!
