Eidos has a little Christmas surprise up it's sleeve it seems as the publisher has just announced that it will be releasing a sequel to Vietnam scare-fest
Shellshock before the end of the year.
Dubbed
Shellshock 2: Blood Trails, the game is set for a Christmas release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and should be suitably twisted and brutal. The game is currently in development at Rebellion, the same team behind the under-appreciated
Rogue Trooper.
Plot-wise,
Blood Trails will once again be set in the Vietnam war and the story will spin around a crazed Special Ops soldier who emerges unscathed from the jungle after the slaughter of his entire unit. Seems this lonely soldier was sent to recover a secret object known as 'Whiteknight', which may have corrupted him.
Either way, said soldier is now utterly bonkers and has taken to some rather eccentric behaviour. Sure enough, he's brought something terrible out of the jungle with him and soon enough the bodies start hitting the floor.
While the first
Shellshock game was a bit of a critical flop, Eidos is hoping that the game can recover thanks to a new developer and multi-platform release during the holiday season. We'll just have to wait and see it seems, though at least we won't be waiting very long.
Eidos had better watch out of course, Vietnam is the new Second World War by the looks of it and there's at least one other Vietnam game looking to get released soon. Nevermind that it's being
developed by Uwe Boll.
Intrigued by the rather grotesque sounding
Shellshock 2, or are you not bothered? Let us know your thoughts
