FEAR has just been patched to version 1.04, enabling support for user-created mods.

You can go grab the patch over at Fileshack, and it's just over 22MB to move up from version 1.03.

Along with the new patch, there is also a new SDK released, which avid fans and modders can use to develop their own games and levels using the FEAR engine. We're actually quite surprised that it's taken this long for mod tools to be released, given the outrageous popularity of mod tools for the Source engine that powers Half Life 2.

Patch 1.03 also adds a couple of new game modes that are basically variants on Capture the Flag.

We're looking forward to seeing what the mod community creates out of the awesome engine that powers FEAR. Stay tuned to these pages... in the mean time, let us know what you make of the new game modes, and FEAR itself, over in the forums.
