Gears of War is a good game and, like all good games, could potentially be an excellent movie provided Hollywood doesn't mess it up. Given the track record for
awful game/movie adaptations though, we aren't holding our breath.
Now a writer has been officially attached to the project though, we may be just a little bit excited about how the movie could turn out.
Stuart Beattie, writer of movies such as
Pirates of The Carribean (the first one),
30 Days of Night and one of my favourite films ever,
Collateral, is now officially attached to the project.
In an interview with
GamePro Beattie talks about how he wants to see the film made and he's brimming with ideas. He references
300 as a major influence.
"
That film was shot completely on green screen, which is amazing when you actually see the film. It's probably how we're going to do Gears of War."
"
I hope it's extremely collaborative. From my point of view it's definitely going to be, because I'm going to be riding their asses about it."
Hmm. So, with a quality writer attached to the film (one who actually may know what he's doing too) it looks like this movie may be better than we expected. How excited are you though? Let us know in
the forums.
