Gran Turismo for the PSP may have been one of the first games announced for the platform, but the massively successful racing simulation still hasn't materialised and there have been constant rumours of delays and cancellation in the years since the announcement was first made.
Not true though, says Sony, who confirmed that
Gran Turismo PSP is still planned to make an eventual debut.
Speaking to
Eurogamer at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida commented on the future of the game and whether or not Polyphony Digital would ever release the game.
"
Good question! It's in Polyphony Digital, they're working on it," said Yoshida, cagily.
"
They have been working on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Gran Turismo 5 for PS3, so they've had to focus on finishing up Gran Turismo on the PS3 side," he explained. "
That's been making the PSP development a little bit slow."
Yoshida wouldn't offer any further comment on the title however, not even confirming whether it would come out at all next year. Neither would he comment on the fate of Team ICO's next title.
