In an unlikely partnership, Angry Birds creator Rovio has teamed up with Green Day to launch a musical episode for Angry Birds Friends on Facebook.

The episode features 10 new themed levels and pigs resembling band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dimit and Tré Cool. The episode will also feature an exclusive track from Green Day called 'Troublemaker' along with their latest single 'Oh Love'.

The Green Day episode will launch later this year to coincide with the release of the band's new album, Uno. Further updates to add more content and levels have also been planned beyond the release.

'We’re all fans of Angry Birds,' said Armstrong. 'It’s such an addictive game that when we first started playing it we couldn’t stop.'

No plans have yet been announced to bring the episode to mobile devices or other platforms other than Facebook.

Rovio has previously commented that it has been thinking about music partnerships. At the Midem conference in Cannes in Janurary this year, the company's chief executive Mikael Hed stated that the developer had held discussions with some un-named record labels about how they could work together.

Earlier this year, Rovio announced that Angry Birds had hit the 1 billion downloads milestone. The title's franchising and merchandise deals have extended out to include plush toys, an animated series on Nickeloden, a board game, and even a theme park in Finland.
